Avanamkulam Subrahmanya temple is an ancient Hindu temple at Edachalam village in Kuttipuram in the Malappuram district of Kerala which was destroyed during the invasion of Tipu Sultan. The temple is several centuries old and has been lying in ruins ever since.
The people of the locality started the restoration of this temple in 1988 but couldn’t complete it due to lack of resources. Even today they worship the feet of the Deity BalaSubrahmanya which is the only remains after the idols was cutoff to pieces by invading forces.
This temple is part of the #ReclaimTemples project in Kerala to rebuild 108 ancient Heritage temples that are lying in ruins for decades and centuries. We believe the project will strengthen the society and along with their social, economic and cultural prosperity.
